“I will not go out and campaign again and ask any woman to vote like I did before. I will never do it again,” - Mrs Aisha Buhari

Mrs. Aisha Buhari

President Muhammadu Buhari may not enjoy the
support of his wife if he decides to seek reelection
in 2019.

“I will not go out and campaign again and ask
any woman to vote like I did before. I will never
do it again,” Mrs Buhari said in an interview with
BBC Hausa’s Naziru Mikailu.
Aisha Buhari suggested that the rein of the
government might have been hijacked from her
husband in spite of famously declaring that he
belonged to nobody during his inauguration.

A report on Wednesday had it that Mrs Buhari
during an interview said that the president is
surrounded by people reaping where they did
not sow.

“The president does not know 45 out of 50, for
example, of the people he appointed and I don’t
know them either, despite being his wife of 27
years.”

She added that “Some people are sitting down in
their homes folding their arms only for them to
be called to come and head an agency or a
ministerial position.”
But Mrs Buhari declined to mention names of
those who might have hijacked the government
from her husband but noted that “You will know
them if you watch television.”

However, Mrs Buhari explained she was not sure
if her husband would seek reelection. “He is yet
to tell me,” she declared.
In spite of her misgivings with her husband’s
administration, Mrs Buhari said the government
has done well to improve the security situation in
the northeast.

“No-one is complaining about being attacked in
their own homes. Thankfully everyone can walk
around freely, go to places of worship, etc. Even
kids in Maiduguri have returned to schools,” Mrs
Buhari
